Augmented Thinking: Harnessing Smart Consumer Wearable Technology for Improved Situational Sensemaking

Background

This was a project proposal for the Oslo and Akershus University College (HiOA) Post-doctoral fellowship in Human Computer Interaction

Description

This project proposes leveraging the emerging market of consumer wearable technology to augment cognition. Individuals suffering from dyslexia and the elderly are faced with daily issues with their situational sensemaking. Their problems with situational sensemaking is a result of their impaired cognitive process, especially memory. Therefore, the aim of this project is to research and develop ready to use apps for smart consumer wearable technology, such as the smartwatch, to aid dyslexic and elderly users with their situational sensemaking.

Outcome

I am continuing to refine this project idea and currently evolving this into the AWEAR project.
